Online Teacher Training Courses for 2018

Register now. Courses begin in February, April and October

ACSI Online Professional Development is designed as practical and highly interactive courses on several topics. Online courses do not require you to travel or even to connect to a live lecture, but instead use an asynchronous environment on a Moodle platform to provide quality content in the form of short videos and reading selections to each participant. The courses are greatly enhanced by the participant interaction and peer-learning and teaching as well as the direct application of concepts to the Christian school classroom.

The Mission of the Christian School (click link for more details)

Totally Positive Teaching

  • Discipline problems, limited resources, crowded classrooms. Teachers face many issues each day that can wear down their love of education. How can they stay focused and energized day in and day out? In Totally Positive Teaching, Joseph Ciaccio shares an approach that transformed him from a burned-out veteran teacher struggling joylessly through each day to a professional who has fun with his students, guiding them to success while enjoying the teaching process. This course is based on Joseph's book and includes input from him specifically for this course.
  • 12 class hours of instruction with the option of official ACSI course certificate (2 Continuing Education Units)

Biblical Integration Strategies

  • As teachers, we are always concerned about the details of what our students learn but they also need to know why those details are important. Biblical integration is a process of seeing the big picture of Truth and always asking how those details fit into the big picture. If all truth is God's Truth, then every subject area has specific ways to help us understand God and understand His creation. This allows us to bring the details of learning together into a unified whole with meaning and beauty.
  • 12 class hours of instruction with the option of official ACSI course certificate (2 Continuing Education Units)

Teaching Strategies for Student Motivation (coming soon)

  • Motivation is an area where most teachers will face challenges and problems throughout their carreer. How can we have a classroom of well-behaved, cooperative students? We will discuss the most common challenges and problems and also some of the more serious issues a teacher might have to address.
  • 6 class hours of instruction with the option of official ACSI course certificate (1 Continuing Education Unit)

The Learning Process (coming soon)

  • Equipping students for the purpose of ruling the earth as God's stewards surely involves teaching them to take responsibility for their lives and their learning. It suggests a learning process in which students are actively engaged, thereby mastering the skills, information, and values that the teacher wishes to convey. We will examine teaching methods that promote student engagement and active student participation in the learning process and practice applying these methods in our classrooms.
  • 6 class hours of instruction with the option of official ACSI course certificate (1 Continuing Education Unit)
