Dutch Student Exchange Optiongreijdanus zwolle 5

Invitation from Greijdanus High School, Zwolle, The Netherlands

The Greijdanus High school, located in the city of Zwolle, the Netherlands, is a Christian school for secondary education with about 2200 students, ages 12 to 18. The high school, also called “college” over here, was founded to combine an excellent education with an environment that encourages spiritual growth. Staff members desire to be living examples of Christ’s love, with the Bible as authoritative guide with regards to all our lives. We are constantly striving to create a learning environment conducive to developing all God given talents. Besides location Zwolle, there are Meppel (470 st.), Enschede (175 st.) and Hardenberg 850 st.).

Our standard exchange recipe is three weeks of immersion, so the students’ personal school careers won’t be interrupted. During those three weeks students are guests at a host school and family, they get a taste of school and school life, and a taste of how daily life outside school hours is. We aim at total immersion so students are able to get a true understanding of the culture of the others as well as a new re-appreciation of their own.

We hereby invite you to become a partner school in exchanging students. For those involved it provides a unique opportunity to get to know another country, culture and the people living there. It is a true enrichment of school life and the lives of the individual students.

We select students based on qualities and talents. Students must be able to handle stress, responsibilities, individuality, physical challenges (Dutch people cycle a lot), they must be able to verbalise things, have a good measure of maturity. etc. In case of exception, information in time will solve most problems.

This exchange is certainly not some kind of party or holiday time! Exchange students will have to be good students, responsible, obedient to school rules, etc., like the others, and at the host families they must be good ‘sons and daughters’, like the others. Why? Because ‘Living the life of the other’ is our focus and that also includes being a responsible student and child.

I hope to get to know you. I am willing to come by and discuss all ins and outs with you. We hope you are interested in participating. Any interest? We would love to hear more from you.

Kind Regards,
Bram Verhoeff
International Coordinator, Greijdanus College

SLC report 2024

At SLC 2024, I recognized at this conference that my time abiding with God is one of the most formative and important parts of being a leader. I also saw myself realizing that I need to recognize my gifts in order to grow God's kingdom.

The Purpose of Education

The hope of Christ-centered education is not in education as the solution, but rather in Christ as the solution and in education as a process to knowing Him and engaging in His world.
