Student Leadership Conference 2021

Recent world events have shown us just how important community is, but also how fragile it can be. How can we lead in a way that strengthens the communities in which we live? Whether we are thinking about our local, national or global community, we want to be leaders who both work with others and take individual responsibility. At SLC we will be exploring the role of Biblical faith, hope and love in building authentic community, and the courage that will be needed for us to lead in this way with the theme "Leading for Community".

UPDATE on July 20

We are continuing to monitor the travel situations and projections for SLC 2021. At this point there are more travel restrictions in place than we had expected for the summer and COVID infection numbers are also increasing in several countries across Europe. This makes it much more difficult to predict what our situation will be at the end of September here in Hungary. Because of this, we feel it is necessary to move this to an online event. Our recommendation to schools is to plan a 3-day retreat for your SLC team. You will need to discuss how to do this with your school leadership and if space and time can be made available for your school team to disengage from normal school activities in the same way that they would if they had traveled to Hungary for SLC. Perhaps choosing a local retreat location and even meeting with other participating schools in your area will be helpful for your team and full SLC participation.

WORKSHOPS

If you are able to provide a workshop, we will be happy to work with you on this. A form is now available to help you think through the details and communicate with us. We will also provide a short online training session for workshop leaders twice in September (Monday, Sep. 6 and Thursday, Sep. 9). Workshops should center around the theme of Christian community and the courage it takes to lead with real faith, hope and love.

All SLC registrations for online participation must be received by September 3. On-site participation is not available this year.

Registration is required as soon as you can provide a chaperone name and a potential number of participants. Please pay for your SLC participation as soon as you can confirm your attendance! This will guarantee space for your group at this year's event. Our desire is to serve your school through student leadership training. It will be important to work with your student team now to prepare for this event.

SLC is a unique opportunity for secondary students to grow in their faith and in their leadership skills, and to fellowship and worship together with like-minded young people from many nations. SLC includes several main sessions, workshops, student discussion groups and time for fellowship and interaction between students and adults even in the online event setting.

register REGISTRATION online (closed).

     September 22-24, 2021 (ages 13-18)

You must have an active ACSI school membership or a special invitation to register.

Program for 13-18 year old students:
We have an SLC program which ensures that the experience for each grade level is appropriate and of the best quality. Students from age 13-15 are provided with their own workshops and discussion groups designed specifically for their needs, introducing them to the foundations of biblical leadership and the character qualities on which to build. Students from age 16 and up have discussion groups and workshops specifically for their age group as well.

We also provide training for older students who want to work and lead activities and discussions with the younger students. High school students who want to serve as discussion group leaders for either age group must participate in a short online training course beginning in early September.

Student Selection:
It is very important to begin your student selection well in advance. Please consider now how this will be done so that it most benefits your students and your school as a whole.

The graduated pricing serves to encourage schools to think about selecting students early so that they will be better prepared for this event.  We have many ideas for helping you prepare your students for SLC. We want each student to get the most out of this event, which can only happen with your excellent support, teaching and prayer. NOTE: We require contact information for student discussion leaders because they must participate in a short online training course BEFORE the conference.

Pricing and Registration:

  • Register as soon as possible! We must be able to plan the event based on your availability.
  • Registration prices are per person: 20 Euro for western Europe and international schools and 10 Euro for Hungarian, Romanian, Czech, Slovak, Polish and other central and eastern Europe schools.
  • Schools must register their group and provide details about each participant.
  • Schools must provide 1 designated chaperone for every 10 student participants.

Conference Preparation Documents:

  1. Draft schedule for 2021
  2. Description of SLC
  3. Guiding the Action Plan
  4. Workshop Proposal Form

Cancellation Policy

  • If you cancel online participation or live participation on or after September 16, we may not be able to refund any payments. Participation can be transferred to another adult or student.
