ACSI Conferences and Connections - Fall 2019

Recently the ACSI Europe team spent time with member schools in Romania. We see that God has blessed the work and commitment of these teachers in their 30 years of freedom and they are passionately serving their communities with a living faith and quality Christian education. The French school leaders also met for a blessed time of training, encouragement and prayer at the ACSI Francophone event.

How can ACSI serve you and your Christian school in the coming months? How can you benefit from the challenges, insights and successes of other schools in the ACSI network?  If you are looking for training, inspiration, partnerships or a place to invest your resources, we would be glad to serve you.

The Romanian Teacher Conference took place in Oradea, Romania and focused on "The Teacher with a Mentor's Heart". 190 participants came from over 20 Romanian Christian schools for this 1-day event with sessions, workshops and time for fellowship.

  • The conference opening in Oradea featured a high school student choir.
  • Laci Demeter gives a workshop for teachers in Arad.
  • Dr. Steve DeGeorge addresses the topic "The Heart of a Mentor Teacher".
  • Paul Madsen leads a student chapel in Timisoara.
  • Students think about how they can respond to God's call in their daily walk.

Students at a Romanian Christian school sing about their trust in Jesus as Savior.

Christian school leaders in France met at the annual ACSI Administrator Conference in October to address the topic of "Keys to Dynamic Governance in Our Schools". It was a great time of fellowship and praying for each other as these key leaders gathered together.

Please pray for these leaders who are under much financial and spiritual pressure in a society that is often hostile to their ministry objectives. Pray for inspiration, encouragement and adequate resources to continue providing quality Christian education to the children of France. Pray that the French church will understand the importance of the Christian education vision and their role in helping to sustain the Christian schools spiritually, financially, and by encouraging people to work and teach in these schools.

- Course materials broadened my perspective of Christian education. Participating in discussion forums helped me to learn from others and for me to share my experiences. Final peer assessment helped me to critically look at my school’s mission statement and to think of ways to improve it to become more central in equipping students to love and serve God. (Quote from a recent course participant)

Each ACSI Europe member school receives 2 complimentary vouchers for any of our 4-week courses this year! Prices are listed in Euros and vary depending on your school type and the length of the course.

Digital Citizenship Education from a Christian Perspective

The Council of Europe’s framework, “Easy Steps to Help Learners Become Digital Citizens” (2023), defines three domains for development: Being Online, Well-Being Online, and Rights Online. But what does digital citizenship mean for Christian schools whose mission is grounded in Scripture rather than in secular definitions of the human person and society?

SLC report 2025

These gatherings brought together students and chaperones from 47 schools across Europe for a time of worship, discipleship, and leadership growth centered on the theme “Leaders Who Love Truth.”

Strengthening Critical Thinking

Christian schools are often intentional about teaching worldview and preparing students to engage with competing ideas. Yet the way we structure this engagement can either nurture deep critical thinking or unintentionally foster shallow habits of argument. Here are some practical tools to support critial thinking in the classroom.
